The Baitul Khairaat Grand Mosque in Palu, Central Sulawesi, was built as a symbol of hope after the 2018 disaster. The project started with a design competition in 2020, continued with architectural planning in 2021, and entered the construction phase after the contract signing on October 20, 2023. Standing on a 4-hectare area, the mosque can accommodate 15,000 worshippers and features Indonesia’s largest dome and analog clock tower, making it a new post-disaster landmark in the region.
The building is supported by a foundation of 483 piles.
The mosque’s facade is adorned with moringa leaf ornaments that wrap around the building, becoming a dominant architectural element beneath the enamel-covered dome and the giant analog clock measuring 19.5 meters in diameter.
The mosque has also earned two records from the Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI)
